Thursdays: PLU Open Mic

The PLU Open Mic has been welcoming performers every Thursday since 2012, and takes place at the historic Culture Rapide bar, in the 20th arrondissement of Paris, 103 rue Julien Lacroix, 75020.

Taking part is simple: once you are at the bar, speak with one of the hosts (see below) who will sign you up. They will then call you to the stage when it is your time. Performances should last around 5 minutes. Sign-up opens at 8pm, we aim to start for 8.45pm.

We welcome all languages and all levels of experience: from beginners to legends.

What’s more, each week we invite a featured performer to share their work for roughly 30 minutes. If you are interested in featuring, please get in touch.

Culture-Rapide Cabaret-Populaire

In the heart of Belleville, one of Paris’ few remaining working class districts, the Culture Rapide bar offers a great ambiance day and night. It is the birthplace of French Slam in the 1980s, encouraging poetry, music and hosting an International Slam Festival in May. The stage may be small, but it is mighty.
